Opportunities in SBIR|STTR Funding Program Workshop: Unlocking Early-Stage Startups’ Access to Non-Dilutive Capital.

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program is a highly competitive program that awards grants to small businesses to conduct research and development (R&D) on innovative technologies that have the potential for commercialization.  SBIR/STTR program allos early-stage tech companies raise more than 2 million non-dilutive capital through Phasee I and Phase II. Phase I is designed to help small businesses explore the technical feasibility of their proposed R&D project. Phase I grants are typically for six months and range from $50,000 to $150,000. Phase II is designed to help small businesses further develop and refine their R&D project. Phase II grants are typically for two years and range from $750,000 to $1.5 million. The SBIR/STTR program has been very successful in helping small businesses develop and commercialize new technologies. Since its inception in 1982, the program has awarded over $40 billion in grants to small businesses. These grants have helped to create over 1 million jobs and have led to the development of many successful products and services.
